High Street businesses across the country are struggling. From pubs to hairdressers, the cumulative impact of rising business rates, energy bills and increases to national insurance contributions means it’s never been more difficult for them to succeed.
Woking was built on the railways and has always been served by fantastic connections to London and across the South of England. However, recently train travel has become a nightmare for commuters in our town.
Over the past 20 years, rates of home ownership have declined in England. For many, the prospect of owning a home is no more than a pipe dream. This isn’t right. All those who want to own a home should, with hard work, be able to afford to do so.
Surrey has the third largest local authority spend on home-to-school transport in the country. Despite this, many parents and carers in Woking contact me because they are still struggling to get the home- to-school transport that their children need.
Over the past week, Parliament has been on Whitsun recess. While MPs haven’t been sitting in the House of Commons, work has very much continued behind the scenes.
