Over the past week, Parliament has been on Whitsun recess. While MPs haven’t been sitting in the House of Commons, work has very much continued behind the scenes.
The King’s Speech was yet another missed opportunity to put things right. It simply didn’t go far enough to deliver the ambitious change people are crying out for – and there are plenty of sensible Labour MPs who recognise that.
Last week, we had the local elections for a new West Surrey Council, which will replace Surrey County Council, Woking Borough Council and the other nearby Borough Councils from April next year.
Protecting vulnerable children has been central to my work since being elected as Woking’s MP – whether that be improving child protection rules following the appalling murder of Sara Sharif or supporting children with special educational needs.
The situation in the Middle East is currently extremely tense, unpredictable and already impacting our day to day lives. Whether that be through increased fuel prices or rising inflation; the impacts look set to continue for the foreseeable future.
